Across My Desk, offers behind-the-scenes access to my journey creating beautyIRL, a beauty and wellness social club.👷🏾♀️✨
A few weeks ago I soft-launched beautyIRL. You can follow on Instagram if you like. My mission is simple: I want to create experiences that help people make friends and interact with their favorite brands simultaneously. That brands never come down here, and engage with us at in-person events is also a motivating factor. It’s been a little scary sharing my vision with people, but it’s also a necessary step in making it happen.
Since the soft launch, I’ve contacted many companies and invited them to sponsor our inaugural event. Many of the girls have not been responsive. Of the fifty emails I sent out, only one has responded affirmatively. I am super excited about this one, but I thought others would be more excited about the opportunity. I was a little deflated, but my girlfriend reminded me that sometimes people need to see that something works before they get on board. As I love being right, this is a thought process I can definitely get with.
To-Do List:
Visit a few event locations around the city and contact their managers for pricing and availability.
Continue reaching out to brands and inviting them to sponsor the event.
Figure out how to market a social club that hasn’t started social clubbing yet.
External Inspo: I came across this
interview and loved every moment of it. Smith talks about how she continues to strive professionally and personally, despite already having accomplished so much. It’s a beautiful reminder that wanting more is good for us.On Repeat: I’m a fan of BigXthaPlug, but I am not in his concert demographic, so I’ll continue to listen in my headphones while I work.
