Let’s jump right into all the big things that have happened in the last month:
The first Hot Girl Hike was a huge success. 24 of the 28 women who signed up to attend showed up! Everyone was so kind and happy to meet new people.
After the event, I posted a reel that generated almost 30K+ views and helped my email list grow by over 1K in a matter of days (since then I’ve been averaging about 10-15 sign ups per day).

Enable 3rd party cookies or use another browserBecause the email list grew by so much, so quickly, and while I was at my family reunion, sending out the info was a nightmare. Buuut the June hike sold out almost immediately.
The haircare brand, A I Am Naturally, reached out to collab and ended up sending 80 FULL-SIZED sets of their Rosemary haircare line to all of the June hikers.
Speaking of the June hike, we had even more attendees, but I found out that several of the hikers had traveled 45-60 minutes just to hike with us. 🥹 It means so much that they would go so far out of their way to spend time with other Black women on a peaceful hike.
Also, I changed the club name from beautyIRL to B Social. Ultimately, I realized that the vision I have for our community needs a name that anchors it in its original purpose, being social.1 This last hike proved that I made the right call.
To-Do List:
Visit another trail in the area. I visited three ahead of the June hike, but ended up back at our original spot because it had the best parking options. There’s no way our current park is going to accommodate the number of people we’re expecting in July. 😅
Reply to the pilates and yoga instructors who reached out to collab on events.
Keep reaching out to brands to let them know about collab and sponsorship opportunities. This is a great opportunity for them to get in front of consumers, but it’s my responsibility to help them see it.
External Inspo: I really enjoyed the Martha Stewart documentary. I appreciated that it didn’t try to present a version of her that wasn’t true to what she says about herself. She describes herself as a perfectionist, short-tempered, and ambitious, and the documentary charts all of that.
On Repeat: This song was on repeat nearly all of May as I sent emails, replied to comments, and drove around buying supplies for the hike. Between Meli'sa’s voice and the infectious beat, it’s such a great song to have on replay while you’re working.
